I certainly remember that moment with absolute clarity. Walking into a classroom that Tuesday, looking up at the television, and seeing a single tower surrounded by plumes of smoke. Understanding, instantly and with eerie, wrenching surety, that it was half of the World Trade Center. We were under attack, and no one knew why or from who or whether we were leaving our sheltered little lives for war on the home front. For that moment, "terror" wasn't just a buzz word. It was jet fuel-soaked steel clenching the hearts of an entire nation in cold fear.

Thousands died. Many, many more lost their lives in the chain of events that followed. Ten years is such a long time--and such a painfully short time--for those who lost the people they loved. Remember the attacks and the victims. Remember Flight 93. Remember those left behind...and honor the strength they drew upon to move forward.
